Plein air oil painting sailboats in Jamestown, Rhode Island
I could not make up my mind where to paint today. After wasting an hour searching Alltrails hoping for new inspiration, I gave up and headed for Beavertail State Park (where I ALWAYS find inspiration). On my way there I drove past Conanicut Harbor, and these beautiful little sailboats caught my eye. A gentle breeze caught their sails as these hardy sailors braved the cold to enjoy their pastime. These photos just don’t capture the quiet gray colors of the sea surface.
The reflections as the boats came closer were gorgeous. I am so excited to start a larger studio painting of these boats.
