Oil Painting of Fall Trees at Belleville Pond, North Kingstown

Ryan Park Landscape Painting

The start of fall in New England.  Not sure if it is the drought or cool evenings, but the leaves have started to turn.  Saturday we hiked with our pups at the Grill Preserve in Bradford, RI.  Gorgeous but the dogs were not in a pause to let mom paint kind of mood.  So Sunday we walked the dogs at Belleville Pond, got lunch in Wickford (SOOOO DELICIOUS), and then I went back to paint.  I started this painting at 3 pm and finished around 6:30 pm.  While I did start with a value study underneath, I unfortunately didn’t stick to it; hence the sunset toned foreground and mid-afternoon background. Oh well… live & learn 🙂

Progress in small steps… I ended up scraping out the foreground and redoing it.  I felt the water masses were too repetitive in shape.
