Today was my day of indecisiveness… My husband and I took our dogs to Rome Point for a walk and I brought my painting backpack. When we got there, I wandered around for TWO HOURS trying to decide what to paint!!! I did a little value sketch of the marshes but it didn’t grab me. I loved the view of the marsh from the trestle bridge (below) but the tide was coming in, so I knew I couldn’t stay. After a long time wandering, I ended up at the beach where I first met my husband. And that is where this beautiful scene finally grabbed me. The late afternoon sunlight was casting some of the seagrass in shadow while the rest was glowing in yellow-green against water reflecting the blue sky. Perfect!
If only the tide wasn’t coming in… I wanted to paint here but I would have been stranded in the squishy marsh!
Then I walked along the winding path until I came to this spot…
The reflections in the water and the sun glowing through the green seagrass sealed the deal. After a brief rest to munch some snow peas, I set up my easel and got to work…
Not the best, not my worst, I had a beautiful afternoon outdoors which is really all I care about. Love where you live and love who you live with – I do 🙂
