Plein Air Oil Painting Sailboats in Wickford Harbor, R.I.
‘’Spring Breeze Sailing’
Plein air painting of Wickford Harbor, North Kingstown, R.I.
Oil on Linen Panel, 5 x 7
On a crisp spring Saturday in April, the sails snapped in the wind and provided the perfect subject in an otherwise empty harbor. The afternoon sun cast beautiful reflections of the sails on the rippling waves.Peaceful for the sailors and for me on the shore capturing the moment in oils.
I was in Wickford to demo a watercolor for Daffodil Days at Harbor View Artisans. After a bit I noticed the sailing dingy criss-crossing the harbor enjoy the first warm breezes of spring. I couldn’t resist. Bye bye daffodils and off to the dock to paint the water. I couldn’t resist.
After a day of painting, my husband met me to celebrate the gorgeous weather with a burger and beer at our favorite spot – Wickford on the Water. The best fish and chips and an unbelievable view. Also try their Ahi Tacos -amazing!
